First Night Out
Tonight was my first night out. Four of my teacher friends and I walked to the Vietnamese and Thai part of town by the train station. It was a little frightening. We ended up at this Vietnamese place that had 7 cop cars out front checking immigration papers and the teachers said, "This is when it gets real". So it was my first "real" experience here. And it was awesome. We ate in an alley. Here is a blurry picture of us (it pretty much sums up the night) and a picture of what we were seated next to:
We drank a few Taiwan beers there, and then moved on to the next spot. We went to ANOTHER Vietnamese place for spring rolls and a few more beers. After that we went to G Lush Bar and had a beer. The beers here are huuuuuuge. Here is an example:
Next, we went to the Red Indian. It was great. We sang so much karaoke. For hours. And it was perfect. We drank a few more beers and sang everything from Elton John to the Backstreet Boys. It was so much fun. Here is a picture of Julie and Paris singing:
After that, I had a few friends over to my apartment to drink some more and talk. Everyone performed poetry, and we all made a long poem about this candy, Hi-Chews, together. It was random but wonderful. It is just about 5am here, and time for bed. Luckily, teaching doesn't start until later in the day, which is around 3pm. Overall, it was a great night out in Changhua. I never knew Sunday nights could be so fun!
